Dark Forest is an ongoing photography project that I began in 2007.
As a child, I often wandered through the forests surrounding the village where I grew up. Today, walking through the same forests – with their winding, forgotten paths shrouded in mist, sunlight filtering through the trees, and the rich, earthy tones of the forest floor – not only fills me with nostalgia but also brings me peace of mind.
The images in the Dark Forest series capture the enchanting yet mysterious atmosphere found in the woods. The close-ups of dewy leaves or the intricate patterns of ferns evoke an intimate sense of being at one with nature, while the wider shots reveal the vastness and solitude deep within the forest.
Ultimately, Dark Forest takes you back to a simpler time, through a deep appreciation for the beauty and silence that can almost only be found deep in the heart of dark forests.
